Needlepoint rugs
100% wool, hand stitched in
China
Needlepoint rugs are stitched rugs produced by
sewing the design into a large piece of fabric which is also called
a canvas. Various stitches can be used to produce different patterns
and appearances. When the artisan changes thread color, the excess
is left hanging long on the back side.
Needlepoint rugs tend to have
smaller sizes than
aubusson rugs. And most of the needlepoint rug pieces made today
are coming from villages. So actually they are not factory made rugs
as they only come to factories for sales when stitched ready.

One more interesting thing for
people to know about handmade needlepoint rugs is that they do not
even use looms, whether vertical or horizontal. A needlepoint
rug is stitched between two wood rods. Sewers can sit at both
sides to stitch it, which speed up the stitching. That's just
an amazing handmade art left today!
Chinese
needlepoint rugs are famous today and there has been formed a large base
with outstanding productions, which give new life to this old art.
And most importers around the world are buying needlepoint
rugs from China.
